Each afternoon the dynamic duo (L-R: Monte Hale, Jr. and Tim Tackett) talk with sports leaders to learn the insiders truth on topics that other journalists are unable to get.

But then look at their background. Monte’s father, the late Monte Hale, Sr., was the voice of the Blue Raiders as well as high school sports on WGNS about four decades ago. Monte, Jr. grew-up with local sports. When he started the show on WGNS, he said, “This really brings back memories. I used to play on these floors while my father was at work.” As a retired Rutherford County educator and former high school principal, Tim Tackett brings added insight into the local sports arena. The end result is a fast moving, listener directed talk radio show that covers local sports like no other broadcast can. The dynamic duo don’t confine their afternoon adventure to the WGNS’ studios. They go “live” to any place that local sporting events take place. Below, Monte Hale, Jr. interviews MTSU President Dr. Sidney McPhee in front of the historic Rutherford County Courthouse. This is the scene of the Blue Raider Bash!
