Spring Road Projects Bring Traffic Challenges!

Spring is here and the 'Boro is into serious road projects and that brings traffic challenges. Here are Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran's spots to avoid today through March 29th. 

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Bridge deck steel reinforcement work continues.  Storm pipe installation work continues on the north side of Joe B Jackson Pkwy between S Church Street and Parson Road.  Grading work begins for temporary travel lane between Parson Road and S Church Street.  Public utility service connection work continues along Joe B Jackson between S Church Street and Stevens Bend Road.  There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Overall Creek Elementary School Roadway Project (Veterans Pkwy at Mooreland Lane)

Expected Road Closures:  September 3rd 2013 through June 21st 2014:  Mooreland Lane at Veterans Pkwy closed in preparation for the new roadway construction and utility work.  All traffic to and from Veterans Pkwy and Mooreland Lane will be detoured through State Route 96 and Rucker Lane.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  6:30 am to 4:30 pm:  Utility and grading work continues along Veterans Pkwy.  Box culvert construction and fill placement work continues between Saint Andrews Dr. and Yeargen Road.  There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Southwest Force Main Project (W College Street/Old Nashville Highway)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  Contractor for Water &Sewer Department will be installing force sewer main lines W College St/Old Nashville Highway near Thompson Lane.  W College Street/Old Nashville Highway will be reduced to one lane with flagging operation.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

S Church Street Sidewalk Repair/Upgrade Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm:  Incidental sidewalk repair work continuous along S Church Street between CSX Bridge and Broad Street.  Work entails removing and replacing existing damaged concrete sidewalk.  There will be minor lane closures and traffic interruptions on the northbound lanes of S Church Street.  Southbound traffic will not be affected.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday & Tuesday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am:  There will be alternation lane closures on Old Fort Pkwy eastbound and westbound between Kings Highway and Broad Street to install attenuators and barrier rail. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Left Turn Lane Improvement Project (Rutherford Blvd just north of John Bragg Hwy

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm:  As part of a private development, turn lane improvements will be made on Rutherford Blvd just north of John Bragg Hwy.  Southbound traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one lane.  Northbound traffic will not be affected.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Water and Sewer Line Tie-in Project (Old Lascassas Pike between Brown Drive and Rocky Ln)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Wednesday & Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm:  As part of a private development, water and sewer line tie-in work will be made on Old Lascassas Pike between Brown Dr and Rocky Ln.  Traffic on Old Lascassas Pike will be reduced to one lane flagging operation.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Murfreesboro Electric New Sub-Station Project (Rutherford Blvd just north of MTSU Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm:  As part of new sub-station, the contractor for Murfreesboro Electric Department will be working on the utility poles along Rutherford Blvd between MTSU Blvd and Greenland Drive.  There will be alternating lane closures on Rutherford Blvd northbound and southbound during this work.  Traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one lane each direction.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Water Line Tie-in Project (Silohill Lane between Avenue Way and Greshampark Drive)

Expected Road Closures:  Tuesday through Thursday:  As part of a private development, water line tie-in work will be made on Silohill Lane between Avenue Way and Greshampark Drive.  This segment of Silohill Lane will be closed to traffic.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
