State Representative Bryan Terry, MD (R-Murfreesboro) announced that he and State Representative Dawn White (R-Murfreesboro) will be hosting the Fourth Annual Empowering Women Event at 5:30pm on July 10th in the Sports*Com Meeting Room.

The event, designed to provide information on ways to become more involved in state and local government, offers women an opportunity to learn more about how they can make a positive impact on policy, procedures, and economic development.

This year's featured keynote speaker is Scottie Nell Hughes, a journalist and former spokesperson for President Donald Trump. Additionally, Andrea Norberg, president of the Republican Women of Rutherford County, and April Carroll, president of the Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) College Republicans, will address the audience.

Rep. Terry, known for his commitment to outreach, began holding the free event in 2014 as an opportunity to not only inform women in the community about opportunities to get involved and make a difference, but also to help provide the tools needed to be successful.

"This event is a great way for the women of House District 48, Rutherford County, and surrounding areas to find out how they can become more involved in our state's political process and economic development," said Representative Terry. "I am grateful to Representative White for her support and partnership in serving as a co-host, and I know our speakers will do an exceptional job in order to ensure the evening is a tremendous success."

Rep. White, a co-host since 2015, is serving her third term in the Tennessee General Assembly. She currently serves as both the treasurer and secretary of the Tennessee House Republican Caucus.

"I was fortunate to have parents that taught me the importance of community involvement from an early age, and I have been blessed to serve with many women in civic roles throughout our community, whose influence has been instrumental in developing leadership skills," said Representative White. "I am excited to co-host this event and provide an avenue for women to learn about opportunities to serve our community."

Bryan Terry, MD serves as Chairman of the House Health Subcommittee. He is also a member of the House Health and House Civil Justice Committees. Terry lives in Murfreesboro and represents House District 48, which is the eastern half of Rutherford County.
