State Senate and House Education Chairs Visit MTSU

April 2, 2009

It was appropriate that the new education committee chairs in both the Tennessee House and Senate visited Middle Tennessee State University on Thursday (4/2/09). You may not realize it, but MTSU is the school of choice of valedictorians and salutatorians across middle Tennessee. It is also the institution where more undergraduates are getting their education than anywhere else in the Volunteer State.

MTSU President Sidney McPhee welcomed State Representative Harry Brooks (19th District, Republican from Knoxville) and State Senator Dolores Gresham (26th District, Republican from Somerville). They were here for an informal visit to get acquainted and learn more about Tennessee’s fastest-growing university. Following lunch, the president took the legislators on a driving tour of the 500-acre campus where they saw the new Health and Wellness Center and pharmacy, took a turn on the new roundabout and viewed the sites of the future Student Union, College of Education Building and the proposed Science Building.
