Stones River Historical Society Met Monday Night

The Rutherford County Historical Society had a spirit filled gathering Monday (10/16/2017) evening in the County Archives Building on Rice Street. Stones River Paranormal presented findings from local investigations.

John McKinney was one of the founders who started the group in March, 2012. In addition to Murfreesboro, there is now a chapter in Chattanooga and soon will include Memphis.

McKinney said they are asked to make around 30 investigations each year, and that their studies are done for free. He also stressed that this is a faith-based organization.

When asked what was the most unique local find they have made in Murfreesboro, he told us of a well-known historic home . . .

Judy Garland and the Gum Community

The group is offering a Halloween adventure at Hales Bar Dam on Onctober 27 and 28. It is called Ghost Hunting 101. That too is on the group's website.

In addition to the paranormal presentation, local author Michelle Russell told of her book From Tennessee to Oz, The Amazing Songs and Judy Garland's Family History.
