Subject arrested as police were looking for someone else in Murfreesboro

When Murfreesboro Police were in the process of serving a recent warrant, they ended up leaving with drugs and a totally different suspect. The incident was reported at 216 Bilbro Avenue.

Officers paid a visit to the residence during the morning hours and asked the main resident for permission to walk through the address in search of a Rolandras Murray, who was wanted on an "Aggravated Robbery" warrant. While police failed to find their man, they did discover a "Robert Andrew Smith" nearby.

Smith was placed in handcuffs and is on felony probation and classified as a gang member known to go armed, according to a police report. After he was in cuffs, he gave police permission to search his pockets. Keys in Smith's pockets matched a nearby vehicle. Officers looked into the windows of the car and claim they found two bags of narcotics within plain view. The bags were next to the gear shifter.

Officers say the bags were filled with cocaine, marijuana, Oxycodone and Xanex pills.

He was charged with six counts of Felony Possession of a schedule 2 drug, felony possession of a schedule 4 drug and simple possession of a schedule 6 drug. As of Monday evening, Smith remains behind bars. His bond is set at $106,500.
