Be careful of checks that are delivered to your home mailbox... A Murfreesboro man found out the hard way that thieves were also interested in his freshly printed checks.

The theft occurred at an address on County Farm Road. Apparently, the victim received a box of new checks in the mail which were grabbed by a thief before the victim could get his hands on them. The victim learned about the theft when he found out that two of his checks had been cashed at the Regions Bank next to the Innsbrooke Kroger Store on South Church Street. The two checks added up to more than $1,800.

The checks were made out to two different names. One of those two names used his Tennessee Driver's License to cash one of the two checks. In other words, police may have the name of the suspect and his driver's license number. However, an arrest has not yet been made.
