The new fiscal year for Rutherford County, Tennessee began July 1st. Rutherford County Property Assessor Rob Mitchell says the proposed tax rate is $2.68 per $100 in value.

In earlier broadcasts, County Mayor Ernest Burgess proudly notes that the tax rate remains essentially the same.

All of this with Rutherford County continuing to be one of the fastest growing parts of the nation. In fact, according to the city of Murfreesboro's garbage can theory, the population within the city limits is estimated to be nearing 150,000. Rutherford County's estimate is near 300,000.
