Law enforcement officers throughout Rutherford County were busy this past weekend. A total of three possible illegal immigrants were apprehended on various charges and now face possible deportation.

33-Year old Felix Marin-Noyola  who resides in the Murfreesboro Motel on NW Broad Street was arrested for a third time on DUI charges. 26-Year old Isidro Gomez-Dominguez of Miller Estates Road was picked up because he was wanted by another department and 24-year old Bartolo Velasquez-Bartolo of Smyrna was taken into police custody for a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and driving without a license. All three men will remain behind bars, unable to post bond because of what is called an ICE Detainer.

An ICE detainer is a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement “detainer.” An immigration detainer is a notice that the Department of Homeland Security issues to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to inform them that the immigration enforcement agency intends to assume custody of an individual that is currently in local law enforcement’s custody. According to the immigration enforcement service, detainers are critical for ICE to be able to identify and ultimately remove criminal aliens who are currently in federal, state or local custody.
