A Franklin County man has been arrested and charged with trying to rob three locations in Murfreesboro. Twenty-one year old Matthew Corbett of Estill Springs faces the charges after trying to rob the Shell gas station on Broad Street Sunday night. Murfreesboro Police reports indicate Corbett asked for cigarettes and when the cashier opened the drawer, Corbett handed her a bag and told her to fill it with cash. When the cashier refused to give him money, he fled the store. Corbett was arrested a short time later at the Florance Station Market, near the Smyrna city limits.

As Police Officer Gorham reports, during his investigation, it was determined this was the same man who attempted to rob the Sir Pizza and Papa John's stores on Memorial Blvd. earlier in the evening. A report filed with M-P-D indicated a man, matching Corbett's description, entered the Sir Pizza location around 8:30 and ask for water. A store worker said to the supervisor at the store that the man had a gun and was trying to rob them. When Corbitt was confronted by the store supervisor, he ran out of the store and allegedly fired two shots inside the restaurant. Another robbery attempt was reported by a man fitting Corbett's description about an hour later at Papa John's.
