The Murfreesboro Electric Department will switch over to “time of use rates” in the future. Time of use rates are an electric rate program designed to shift the customer’s electric usage away from times of peak customer demand. We asked Amy Byers with M-E-D when we can expect the time of use rates to be implemented…

The Murfreesboro Electric Department and Middle Tennessee Electric will likely introduce the new time of use rate schedule during the same time period. Chris Jones, who will take over the position of President at Middle Tennessee Electric on April 1st, 2013, told WGNS in a past interview that they expect to start the time of use service between 2014 and 2015. Jones said he hopes the new rates will conserve electricity…
