"Studio M" was jumpstarted by a 50-thousand dollar grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to advance journalism and journalism education.

Hoeppner says issues such as employment, health care, the economy, education, student loan debt, gender pay gap, religion, race and diversity will be reported, recorded, produced and written.
