TSA Offering PreCheck Thru Friday In 'Boro

It's travel time, and a TSA Pre-Check will speed you through the airport lines. The TSA bus is in front of Bonefish Grill at 500 N. Thompson Lane through Friday (5/16/2017). They will be opening an office in that shopping center. In fact, Murfreesboro's population has become such travelers that the TSA is locating a permanent office in the strip shopping center where their motor home is parked.

The TSA PreCheck program makes travel in the U.S. less stressful. TSA's mobile RV is pre-screening travelers now through Friday (6/16/2017) from 9AM-noon each morning and 1-5PM in the afternoons.

How Does PreCheck Work?

PreCheck is a risk-based security program that provides a more convenient and faster way to travel. Once issued a Known Traveler Number, PreCheck enrollees are no longer required to remove shoes, belts or light jackets, and laptops and liquids can stay in carry-ons bags during airport security screening.

To enroll, attendees must bring a government-issued photo ID with proof of U.S. Citizenship (i.e. a passport or birth certificate) and complete a 10-minute fingerprinting process. Once approved, you will receive a KTN (Known Traveler Number) and have access to PreCheck expedited airport security lines for five-years at a cost of $85 ($17 per year).

Recent incidents with airlines are adding to growing concerns about how the travel experience will be this summer, especially following the unbearably long airport security lines that resulted in missed flights, hot tempers and extra travel headaches last summer. Passengers enrolled in the TSA PreCheck program will not have to take out liquids and laptops or remove shoes and belts while going through security, providing an easier and more enjoyable travel experience.

TSA Opening Permanent Office Here

And if you're trying to picture where 500 N. Thompson Lane is, the TSA van is in a parking space between the Bonefish Grill and North Thompson Lane. Keep in mind the TSA PreCheck motor home will be here only through Friday night, but they will soon be opening a permanent office in that complex in the near future.
