TSSAA Girls State Postponed; Games Rescheduled

For the first time anyone can remember, the TSSAA Girls State Basketball Championships have been postponed due to snow. All of the Thursday games have been postponed and moved to Friday. The entire schedule of remaining games has had to be adjusted. Those games will start later as well to allow for extra time to get to MTSU's Murphy Center and for road conditions to approve.

The games that were to be played on Friday, including Oakland and Blackman semifinal contests, will now be played on Saturday. Since the Lady Raiders are playing a home game at 10am, those games will begin at 1:30pm. Sunday's championship game times are 1pm for AAA, 3:30pm for A and 6pm for AA.

TSSAA Executive Director Bernard Childress tells NewsRadio WGNS there was no way they were willing to put any student athlete's life in jeopardy in order to play basketball games. We also asked Assistant Executive Director Matt Gillespie if the tournament has ever been delayed because of inclement weather. He said he was not aware of it happening.
