Two Murfreesboro agencies, Domestic Violence Program Inc. and Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency, are receiving grants from the employees of U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Manufacturing Facility in Nashville. Donations totaling $250,000 will be presented to 17 nonprofits based in Middle Tennessee. U.S. Smokeless Tobacco is the largest manufacturing employer in downtown Nashville, with more than 400 employees.

The grants are part of a program developed by USSTC's parent company, Altria Group, called the Altria Companies Employee Community Fund (ACECF). The fund is managed by employees who volunteer their time to collect employee donations, review proposals and select grantees within their community.
