November 2, 2009

image On Thursday October 29th, Murfreesboro VICE detectives conducted an undercover sting operation at three businesses suspected of selling alcohol to those under the age of 21. An underage confidential informant entered each of the businesses and purchased beer from the store clerk. Detectives then issued misdemeanor citations to the clerks for Sale of Alcohol to a Minor.

Those issued citations are as follows:

23-Year old April G. Patel at the Beveragemart on Middle Tennessee Blvd., Hirenkumar G. Patel, age 34, at the University Package Store on Middle Tennessee Blvd., 26-year old Faris M. Alkaifce who works at the The Super Market on Middle Tennessee Blvd., and 20-year old Munir A. Abbas, also at the store called the Super Market.

Murfreesboro Officer Kyle Evans told WGNS in a press release that this is the first of many undercover sting operations that will be conducted during the upcoming holiday season on businesses that sell alcohol. Evans stated, “we hope this will send a strong message to business to check the I.D. of all customers and follow the law as it applies to the sale of alcohol.”
