Unemployment rate for Rutherford County is at 3%

County unemployment rates for April 2016, released today, show the rates decreased in 90 counties, increased in two, and remained the same in three counties. Specific county information for March is available by clicking the button below.

Rutherford and Davidson Counties were tied at a 3% unemployment rate this past April. Knox County was 3.2 percent in April, down from 3.4 the previous month. The Hamilton County rate was 3.8 percent, down from 4.0 in March. Shelby County was 4.5 percent, down from 4.7 percent the previous month.

Tennessee's preliminary unemployment rate for April was 4.3 percent, down two tenths of a percentage point from the previous month's revised rate. The U.S. preliminary rate for April was 5.0 percent, unchanged from the previous month.

The state and national unemployment rates are seasonally adjusted while the county unemployment rates are not. Seasonal adjustment is a statistical technique that eliminates the influences of weather, holidays, the opening and closing of schools, and other recurring seasonal events from economic time series.
