UPDATE: 18-Year Old Shot at Apartment Complex Determined Self-Inflicted

Murfreesboro Police have an update on a shooting that was said to have occurred outside of a local apartment complex involving an 18-year old Nashville man. Novais Fuller, Junior, was interviewed by Officer Timothy Jensen at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Sgt. Kyle Evans tells NewsRadio WGNS detectives confirmed that the early Monday morning incident did not occur as it was reported to officers initially. Fuller told the officer he was at a party at the University Gables on South Rutherford Boulevard just after midnight when he heard gun shots. That's when he said be began running across the basketball courts and was hit by a bullet in the right foot.

Evans says detectives have determined the gun shot was an accidental, self-inflicted wound, at another location. He adds the case remains open to determine whether Fuller will face charges of filing a false police report.

It happened Monday (5-22-17) morning outside the University Gables Apartments. Murfreesboro Police Timothy Jensen reports being called to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital just after 2am in reference to a shooting victim.

Novais Fuller, Junior, told the officer he was at a party at the apartment complex on South Rutherford Boulevard just after midnight when he heard gun shots.

Fuller says that's when he began running across the basketball courts at University Gables and was hit by a bullet in the right foot.

He was treated for minor injuries and MPD detectives took over the investigation.
