UPDATE: 2015 Murder Case in Murfreesboro Heads to Court in July

First Degree Murder suspect Dewey Abbott, III of Murfreesboro will be in a Rutherford County Courtroom on July 25, 2016.

That was District Attorney Jennings Jones. Abbott lived in the apartment where the murder took place on July 22, 2015. The deceased victim lived in Lascassas.

In July of 2015, Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to Kings Crossing Apartments (1710 E. Northfield Blvd. - apartment Q-5) in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived they found victim, Jesse Sliepenbeek of Lascassas. The 40 year old man was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he later died from a gunshot wound.

Shortly after Sliepenbeek's death, MPD Detective Larry Maples arrested 59-year old Dewey Abbott III and charged him with First Degree Murder. Abbott lived in the apartment where the murder took place on July 22, 2015.
