Murfreesboro Police Sgt. Kyle Evans tells NewsRadio WGNS after a preliminary investigation by FACT, it appears a dump truck slowed to make a right turn and was struck in the rear by a car. The dump truck was driven by Jared Asko and the car by Deundre Bridges, the father of the child.

The child was in the car. Evans says the child was in a safety seat, but it was possibly installed improperly. After being taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt, the child passed away three days later due to severe head trauma.

If you would like to help the family, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help them with funeral and medical expenses. We have a link at WGNSRadio.com, keyword Bridges.

Around 11:50 Wednesday morning Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to Veterans Pkwy. and Blackman Rd. in reference to an injury accident. After a preliminary investigation, it appears that a dump truck slowed to make a right turn and was struck in the rear by a car.

A child approximately 8 months old was an occupant in the car and was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital by Life Flight with serious injuries. The driver of the car received minor injuries but was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital by ambulance for treatment at the same location as the child.

Investigators believe the child was in a child restraint safety seat, however, the seat may have been improperly installed in the vehicle.

The Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) is investigating the crash.

*Some media sources reported that the baby died in the accident, but WGNS confirmed with MPD Sgt. Kyle Evans that the child did not die in the wreck.
