The bill to do away with emission testing overwhelmingly passed this past April, but each county will have to ask the federal EPA for permission to end it in their community. If the Environmental Protection Agency says no to ending auto emission testing, then the test will continue.

In the past, the EPA allowed for Memphis, Tennessee to end its emission testing program in 2013.

On a side note, Davidson County was excluded in the bill.
