UPDATE: WGNS is continuing to follow the condition of local business owner Bud Mitchell, owner of Bud’s Tire. Mitchell was involved in a motorcycle wreck on Saturday, September 28, 2013. A Murfreesboro Police Crash Scene Report shows that Mitchell ran off the road striking two curbs on Middle Tennessee Blvd. The mishap sent Mitchell tumbling down an embankment and into a ditch, but he does not recall anything that occured.
Truman Jones, longtime friend of Mitchell since childhood, asked Mitchell the big question on the air on Tuesday. That question - Will you continue to ride?
The Mitchell family wants to thank everyone for all of the prayers and warm thoughts.

Prior Report from Earlier This Week:
WGNS spoke to Mitchell’s daughter, Allison Warrick, on Monday and she told us that her father has undergone several surgeries since Saturday. He is at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, and each procedure was to repair his intestines, liver and possibly remove his spleen after his internal organs were badly damaged in the crash.
Warrick told us that her father is heavily sedated, but every four hours they reduce that sedation, so that he can squeeze the hand of his loved ones and open his eyes.
Mitchell will be hospitalized for an unknown period of time as he continues to heal from not only abdominal problems, but also a collapsed lung.
Warrick stated, “I'm sure he can't wait to get well and be on Truman's show and talk about all the memories he dreamed about while sleeping all this time!!” Mitchell and Truman Jones are childhood friends.
Mitchell is in the trauma unit and his daughter-in-law told WGNS that only immediate family members are allowed in his room to visit at this time. Ironically, the mother of Mitchell’s daughter-in-law was involved in an unrelated automobile accident the same day. Her car ran off a bridge, but she did survive. She is located just three doors down from Mitchell in the same Trauma wing at Vanderbilt. Lisa Mitchell told us that prayers are needed for both her mother and her father-in-law.
