Wife Teresa Lester told Horne her husband assaulted her before locking her and their son inside and firing inside. She accused him of using his vehicle to push her truck into the side of the home.

The wife and son escaped and sought help from Horne near their home.

Emergency Medical Services paramedics treated Mrs. Lester before transporting her to Middle Tennessee Medical Center .

Deputies tried to call Lester but could not locate him. Due to safety risks, supervisors were notified. Lt. Rhett Rankin requested help from the Felony Arrest Search Tactical team.

FAST Commander Sgt. Chris Kauffman said the team arrived and crisis negotiators spoke to Lester for about 45 minutes.

“He surrendered peacefully,” Kauffman said. “He came outside and was taken into custody by the FAST team.”

Horne obtained warrants charging Lester who was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where he is being held. Bond was set at $300,000. A hearing is set Nov. 29 in General Sessions Court.

The case is under investigation by Detective Lisa McCallum of the Criminal Investigation Division’s Family Crimes Unit.
