In the nearby Hillsboro area, Coffee Sheriff's Department received a call around 4:47pm Sunday afternoon that some type of aircraft had crashed on Prairie Plains Rd in Hillsboro.

Emergency crews arrived quickly on the scene and discovered an Ultralight Sky Cycle aircraft had indeed crashed. The area was secured and an investigation ensued.

Emergency personnel then located Michael David Nelms age 52, 2376 Prairie Plains Road in Hillsboro and determined that he had perished.

Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves says his department will work with Federal Aviation Administration Investigator Aaron DeVogel. The cause of the crash is still being investigated and the cause of the crash has not been determined at this time.

Mr Nelms' body was transported to the medical examiner's office in Nashville to determine the exact cause of death.
