UPDATE: Murder in Manchester

August 24, 2009

One man is dead and another is in custody following a weekend homicide in Manchester.  Just before midnight Saturday, Barry Lark, of River Forge Drive in Manchester, was reportedly shot dead by Daniel Teal after the two allegedly got into an argument. According to reports, Lark walked away from the argument and went to bed. According to Coffee County Sheriffs Investigator Danny Ferrell, Teal then found a .38 caliber handgun, entered Larks bedroom and shot him multiple times in the chest. Larks other roommate found him dead sometime later and notified the Sheriffs Department. Teal was found later that night at Manchester’s Coconut Bay Café. The handgun was found in his truck.

Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves told partner station WMSR News that he was glad that a person of interest was located so quickly. Graves said that Teal later confessed to the slaying. Daniel Teal has been charged with First Degree Murder and Possession of a Stolen Weapon. He is being held in the Coffee Count Jail on$275,000 bond.

  1. Barry's Sister on August 24th, 2009 9:26 am

My brother was a sweet darling young man, it is very unfortunate that this young man would take the life of such a dear person. Barry has four siblings our mother past at 33 each of us were very young. Our neice died from cancer 4 years ago, our family has gone through a lot we are sad, because we are all we had, This young man has allowed the devil to use him, and has now taken our brother from us.
Barry will be missed we are lost at this time, and we pray this young man will learn to value life after he has taken our brother from us. He has 3 grandchildren. He has two children that has to live without their father. He has neices and nephews that will have a hole in their hearts, and will not have their uncle. I pray he will turn to the Lord and ask for forgiveness for taking the life of our loved one.

My name is Sandra Lark. I am Barry’s baby sister. Our family laid Barry to rest Monday August 31. That honestly was the worst day of my life. Losing my daughter 4 years ago was extremely hard but I knew that there was a possiblity. Losing my brother to such nonesense is awful. I wouldn’t wish this kind of pain on anyone. Yes, bekka, you are right. Barry would not want us to hate anyone because he wasn’t that kind of person. He was the kind of person that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I’m trying to find a place in my heart to forgive Daniel Eugene Teal for murdering my brother but it’s not there yet. I can only pray that justice will be served.
I LOVE YOU BARRY WITH ALL THAT I HAVE AND I WILL MISS YOU, YOUR SMILE, AND YOUR OFF THE WALL JOKES!!! Rest my sweet heart and huge my baby girl and moma for me. Until we meet again, your baby sis, San

Bless you ladies! I feel your pain. You are obviously stronger than I could be. I hope you all may find peace.

My name is Cynthia Lark. I am Barry’s oldest sister. I am clearly not as nice as my other two sisters and certainly less forgiving. The S.O.B. that killed my brother and robbed him as he was dying, deserves to rot in HELL. Yes, we are a strong loving family, held together by Barry who was the middle child. Barry was funny, generous (to a fault) and never met anyone that he did not consider a friend. Let’s hope that Mr. (and I use this term loosely) Teal stays in jail. For that matter he probably won’t be safe either way. Mr. Teal, this is not OVER! I will forever remember your face and I will not forget the cold, cruel, murder that you have committed. YOU ARE NOT FORGIVEN BY ME. Barry please know that your sisters and your brother will not rest until this man is given true justice.

The murder of my brother is turning into a joke around Manchester, Tennessee. The assistant district attorney has accepted another job in Brentwood in the middle of trying to get justice for my brother. The new attorney just received the case on Thursday January 14, 2010 and we have to be in court on the 27th. Our family is not receiving much information from the district attorneys office about the process of what’s happening with this case. We are frustrated and devastated about what’s going on. i feel that they are trying to sweep this senseless murder under a rug. My brother was in his own bed, asleep when he was shot 9 times by a coward that has no regard to life. He deserves the death penalty and my brother deserves justice.

I can only hope and pray that justice will be served for my brother.
I was very hopeful when the ADA was over the case, he assured us he would do everything possible to see this through. Well we are now in the hands of the Lord and a newley appointed attorney, along with the DA.
I can only hope they will seek the justice my brother deserves……

My sister is right. This case is turning into a joke in Manchester. But this community can rest assured that we will seek justice for Mr. Teal. We will allow this chaos to be played out. Let’s hope that the new ADA will do her job. There will be NO PLEA agreement. We want the death penalty for a murder that this person has already confess to.

Got something to say?
