A young man who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on May 31, 2017 is still hospitalized today.

Murfreesboro Police told WGNS that Andrew Patrick Ahrens wrecked near the intersection of Medical Center Parkway and Warren Street at around 6:30 in the evening. He was flown by Life Flight Helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he remains today (6/7/17).

As it turns out, Ahrens was headed home from work to meet his girlfriend who was cooking him dinner. However, he never made it home after losing control of his 2001 Suzuki GS-6 motorcycle and crashing.

The 21 year old suffered severe head trauma and multiple fractures after hitting a curb at the intersection head first.

On Wednesday (6/7/17), his father posted on a GoFundMe page, "When we were visiting today he was moving his mouth around which is the first I've seen any movement from the neck up." Ahrens father is Murfreesboro resident Andrew Kotulak. On the same post, Kotulak wrote, "He has had limited pupil response in his right eye but his left pupil is fixed and dilated."

The family is currently asking for others to keep the young man in your thoughts as he faces a long road of recovery.
