An odd situation at a tobacco store in Murfreesboro led police on a search for an unknown subject.

On March 24th officers responded to a hold up alarm at In and Out Tobacco on Lascassas Pike. Once on the scene they met with the manager of the business who told them a customer got upset while in the store and physically pulled him over the counter. The incident occurred as the unknown male was buying a beer. The report states, “the black male grew upset and pulled him over the counter to the ground.” The worker advised that as the man was pulling him over the counter the man fell to the ground; that was when the employee ran to the back of the store. The suspect was accused of throwing the cash register at the clerk prior to the clerk fleeing.

Initially, it was unknown if the suspect took any money from the register, but after video review, Sgt. Kyle Evans told us that it was clear that the suspect grabbed some money after the assault.

Sgt. Evans sent WGNS a picture of the suspect that was captured on an in store surveillance camera. Shortly after the picture was posted online, the suspect was caught. Charges are pending.
