UPDATE: A total of three people were killed in a Wednesday (1/4/16) night accident on Highway 99 in Murfreesboro near Armstrong Valley Road. The wreck occurred shortly after 8PM.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that 59 year old Ronald E. Smith of Eagleville was driving a Nissan Xterra East on Highway 99 when he crossed the center line striking a Chevrolet Equinox head on. The Chevrolet was being driven by 44 year old Micheal L. Collins of Chapel Hill, TN. Both Smith and Collins were killed in the collision. The Highway Patrol told WGNS that neither Smith nor Collins were wearing a safety belt.

34 Year old Suzanne Collins, who was in the Chevy SUV with Micheal Collins, was also killed in the crash. She was not buckled in. A 6 year old child in the vehicle with them was injured in the accident and was transported to the hospital. The child was in a child restraint seat and properly restrained, which is likely why the child was not critically injured.
