Vehicle occupants said to be shooting at each other in Smyrna

Around noon on Friday, Smyrna Police received several 911 calls in reference to two suspicious vehicles on Lowry Street, in the area of Regions Bank and Wendy's restaurant. The occupants of at least one vehicle was said to be shooting a gun. Smyrna patrol officers did intercept one of the vehicles and both occupants are currently in custody. The shooting was the result of an attempted aggravated robbery.

A second vehicle was intercepted by Murfreesboro Police after it entered their jurisdiction and the occupants of that vehicle are currently in custody as well.

Sgt. Bobby Gibson of the Smyrna Police Department told WGNS, "I am not aware of any injuries and we are still actively investigating this incident."

No names have been released.
