Can you imagine a Veterans Memorial that didn't even have a pole to display the American Flag? For a long time, there was no flag pole at Veterans Memorial Park in La Vergne! The city has come a long way since then, and La Vergne told WGNS that it is an honor and a privilege to now have a park in La Vergne that represents Tennessee soldiers -- and the city has upheld the name "Veterans Memorial Park" with the utmost respect.

Recently, La Vergne patriots decided to build a Veterans Memorial Wall and monument to be displayed at the park.

Unfortunately, the project has had its setbacks. Vandals have marred the wall and brick sales have been slow. Despite those challenges, the city was able to finish the wall and officials are excited to unveil it this Veterans Day.

City Public Relations Specialist Rachel Heggen said, "We want to provide a place of reflection for Middle Tennesseans to ponder the ultimate sacrifices so many made for our freedom. It is also our hope that we can help educate younger generations about the selfless and courageous history America should be remembered for."

La Vergne is asking for the public to join them on November 11th at 11:11am for a special unveiling of the Veterans Memorial Wall. The event will be at 115 Floyd Mayfield Dr. at the La Vergne Veterans Memorial Park.

La Vergne is still selling engraved bricks for the wall. La Vergne Mayor Dennis Waldron stated...

If you know of a Tennessean who served or is currently serving, consider honoring them with the purchase of a brick for just $25.
