UPDATE: We have important "family news" that we wanted to share with you. Dalton Barrett, the son of WGNS’ Bryan Barrett (voice of High School Sports), was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville Monday morning.

We were told that Dalton, who plays for the Siegel Middle Basketball team, was unresponsive when his mother, Heather Barrett, attempted to wake him Monday morning (3/17/2014).

He was first rushed by ambulance to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, where they suggested that he likely had a seizure in the middle of the night and may have some sort of a virus. He was put on a ventilator and then taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Doctors kept him sedated and on the ventilator until Monday night while trying to determine what caused the medical issue.

8:42 PM - Dalton Off Ventilator:

The Barrett family still lacks answers, but Dalton was taken off the ventilator around 8:00 o'clock Monday evening. Physicians at Vanderbilt are now observing him now. He is awake, but groggy at this time. Still, no answers yet. More test will likely be performed.

The family is asking for continued prayers at this time.

6:00 AM Tuesday:

Bryan wrote on FaceBook this morning: "Got a smile this morning. Up earlier than he's been in his life. Dalton is doing much better after a scary 13 hours or so yesterday. Thank you for all your concerns and prayers. Heather and I know it made a difference."
