The cemetery sits alongside the South Church Street Bridge near Middle Tennessee Boulevard. Some of the graves date back well over 120 years. Even though the church is over a mile away from the grave site, the church is responsible for keeping the Benevolent Cemetery clean...

To volunteer, simply show up at the cemetery this Saturday at 8. Volunteers are also meeting at Baldwin Auto Repair at 118 Seals Way off of Park Avenue.

Erline Baldwin told WGNS, "There are currently no homeless persons living in the cemetery."

You may recall, Sheriff Robert Arnold originally announced plans to clean the cemetery using inmate labor. Those plans fell through when it was realized the grave site was on private property. You can not use inmate labor on private property.
