A strong armed robbery was reported on South Church Street early Thursday morning. The clerk at a gas station told police that a man and a woman from Regal Inn walked in and stated they had just been assaulted by a black male wearing a blue tank top and blue shorts. While the clerk did not witness the incident, the worker did claim that a possible suspect did enter one of the motel rooms.

Officers from the MPD then spoke to one of the two victims who was described as being "very intoxicated." The officer who filed the report wrote, "She initially stated that while walking to the gas station (Uncle Sandy's) to buy milk, a black male hid behind the air conditioner, jumped out, removed $30 from her bra and hit her in the chest." Despite the allegation, the officer stated, "I observed no marks indicating a strike to the chest."

Several minutes after the robbery, the woman said the man acted as if he were throwing gas on her and then acted as if he had a match that he was lighting. He then told her in a derogatory manner that he would burn her. We can't repeat what the subject may have said on the radio.

As the victim was speaking to police, her male friend drove up and told police that the black male was someone whom he gave a ride to. He said that he gave the man a lift to the Jackson Motel, but did not know which room he entered. He also told officers that he did not know the mans name.

No arrest could be made because the victims story could not be properly verified and the possible suspect was no where to be found.
