Smyrna’s Channel 3 was recognized nationally at the 28th Annual Government Programming Awards Program which was held in Orlando on September 19th. The awards program honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies.

Channel 3 received a first-place award in the Community Event Coverage category for “Halloween in the Park 2012”. Channel 3 also won a third-place award in the same category for “Smyrna Baseball Opening Day 2012”.
 
Additionally, Channel 3 received two honorable mentions in the Documentary: Event Coverage category:
  • “Nashville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb”
  • “2012 TUFF Challenge”
 
This places Channel 3 just behind the top 3 finalists in this category.
 
Channel 3, which launched in February 2005, is an award-winning local Government Access Channel for the Town of Smyrna, and televises live/taped public meetings as well as other programs about the Town’s departments. Live webstreaming and archived videos are available online at townofsmyrna.org.
 
The National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) is a national association that represents the communications needs and interests of local governments and those who advise local governments.
