The forecast for a bitterly cold winter has created a need for more blankets for local homeless persons. The WGNS Blanket Brigade is now partnering with all Wilson Bank & Trust locations in Rutherford County.

WGNS' President and General Manager Scott Walker said, "About two-decades ago, a listener came to the radio station with the idea of collecting blankets to give to the homeless. That has grown into the WGNS Blanket Brigade, and we now work closely with care groups to assure that only needy persons receive the blankets."

He noted, "When Wilson Bank & Trust asked if they could help, we immediately thought--sure---it will enable us to help more needy persons in our community."

Wilson Bank & Trust Regional President Barry Buckley said . . .

WB&T's Marketing Specialist Stacey Newby said, "With the temperatures falling quickly this season, I am very excited to announce that there is a large basket in the lobby of our four branches. The public can place NEW blankets for the homeless in those containers."

Buckley and Walker encourage scout groups, Sunday School classes, civic clubs, neighborhood organizations, businesses and others to set of goal of donating several new blankets every month. Buckley noted, "By working together, we can help many."

So now, in addition to being able to leave NEW blankets at WGNS (306 South Church Street, next to the Murfreesboro Police Department), you can also leave them at one of the four Wilson Bank & Trust locations in Rutherford County:
MURFREESBORO: 710 NW Broad St., 2640 S. Church St., and 3110 Memorial Blvd.; SMYRNA: 210 Commerce Dr.
