More than 7,000 Middle Tennessee Electric members in the Woodbury area lost power for as much as three hours and 15 minutes Wednesday following an equipment failure at the substation feeding most of Cannon County.

The outage started at about 6 p.m., affecting the majority of the county. MTEMC crews and technicians were able to restore power to some members over the course of the outage, which ended at approximately 9:17 p.m.
