It wasn’t football at its finest, but it didn’t matter to MTSU on Saturday night. Playing in front of the eighth largest crowd (23,992) in Floyd Stadium history, the Blue Raiders avoided disaster by scoring a late field goal to hold of Memphis 17-15. MTSU drove the football when it needed to set up Cody Clark’s 40-yard game-winning field goal. Memphis got to MTSU’s 45-yard line with less than 30 seconds remaining, but the Blue Raiders’ defense came up with back-to-back sacks of quarterback Paxton Lynch to close out the victory. The Blue Raiders open Conference USA play next Saturday when they travel to Florida Atlantic, which defeated South Florida 28-10 on Saturday. Blue Raider Network coverage begins at 10am, right after an early edition of the Prentice Alsup Heating and Air and MTCS Coaches Corner programs.
