Middle Tennessee picked up momentum in the second half, but a comeback fell short as the Blue Raiders dropped a 40-20 decision to North Carolina on Saturday. Down late, the Blue Raiders never gave up. Middle Tennessee outscored North Carolina 13-to-3 to cut the deficit to 26-13 with 12 minutes left. However, North Carolina reeled off two touchdowns to take the victory. The Raiders return to Floyd Stadium for a contest against in-state rival Memphis Saturday. You'll hear it here on WGNS, Rutherford County's Blue Raider Station.

In prep football...the State Farm Prep Football game of the week featured Oakland and Siegel at the newly christened Ray Hughes Stadium. Oakland needed a big play and junior defensive back George Gbesse delivered. Clinging to a 21-17 lead in the fourth quarter, Gbesse picked off a Dakota Crane pass and returned it to the 5-yard line, and Oakland took it in for a touchdown with 7:36 left to help propel the Patriots to a 35-25 victory.
