Cripple Creek Cloggers

And of course, our own Cripple Creek Cloggers, who got their start as the Kittrell 4-H Square Dancers, are again hosting this event. They were started by local educator Steve Cates in June, 1967. In fact, Cates still leads the group of older teens and adults of all ages on tours throughout the world. They perform the high-charged Appalachian style dancing with colorful costumes and all set to a toe tapping beat that makes it impossible to stay still. The group acts as worldwide goodwill ambassadors for the mid-state.

To see if you would enjoy visiting around the world and having fun sharing the folk history of this area, attend one of the Cripple Creek Clogger's rehearsals that are most Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30PM at the old Social Security office at 220 East Vine Street, beside the downtown Murfreesboro Fire Department and across from First Baptist's gym.
