West McKnight Dr. Man Facing Assault Charges after Firing Gun

A West McKnight Drive man is in jail on various charges after allegedly firing a gun at the ground during a dispute with a neighbor. Daniel Zortman, age 28, allegedly got into an argument with neighbors about loud music Friday night just before eight o'clock. The victims reported to Murfreesboro Police the verbal argument took a violent turn when they allege Zortman pulled a handgun from his hoodie and fired a round into the ground. There were several witnesses to the incident.

While conducting the investigation, Officer Albert Miles reports Zortman came back to the victim's home. He was I-D'ed by the victims and the gun was recovered in the suspects garage. Also, a 9mm shell casing was found at the scene. Zortman was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
