VERBATIM:

In a rare move by the council, members voted unanimously and in unison to purchase land from the McDonald family for $4.96 million. The site is 123 acres and sits near State Route 840 at Blackman, Burnt Knob and Vaughn Roads. City Manager Rob Lyons says it offers excellent visibility and access. Mayor Shane McFarland, during discussion, reiterated the need for baseball parks in the city. In fact, Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation officials have stated on previous radio broadcasts it's been 16 years since new baseball parks have been built. It's a move three years in the making since the council has been looking for land to build a park in the growing westside of Murfreesboro since 2013. The Council have been looking for an area in the westside to build a park since late 2013. I'm Dalton Barrett, NewsRadio WGNS.
