With the economy leaning downwards, a lot of people have been asking the question: Should I cut advertising? The answer: NO. A recent non-biased story aired on NPR Sunday that discussed this issue. The reporter concluded that advertising should increase when sales are down. Furthermore, increasing advertising is a good way to move ahead of your competition. The story, from NPR can be found:

93% Listen to radio weekly according to Arbitron statistics released to the NAB in 2007
Newspaper readership has declined to 48.4% according to the Newspaper Assoc. of America (2/2008)
92% Say radio plays an important part in American life
3-Million new listeners tuned in between March 2007 and March 2008.

Radio listenership has increased by 15% since 1994
Average consumer spends 2-hours listening to radio daily

The Ipod and the FM Cell Phone:

Radio functionality is growing more rapidly than Mp3 functionality on mobile phones according to Vnunet.com. An independent survey conducted by InfoSyncWorld.com during the month of April of 2007 concluded that FM radio (which is where WGNS can be heard on FM 100.5 and 101.9), was the most sought after added function for the Ipod.
