WGNS toured the new Peter D’s Restaurant on Medical Center Parkway that is currently under construction. Shane McFarland, who was contracted by Peter Demos to build the new upscale restaurant, took us through the building on Thursday. McFarland said that construction is on schedule to be completed by April 1, 2014.
As you enter the restaurant you will be greeted by a floor that is covered entirely in pennies, as opposed to wood, tile or concrete. McFarland told us they got the idea for the penny floor on Pinterest. Aged barrels that were once used to hold whiskey will make up one wall inside the restaurant. In the back of the facility, a high tech nitrogen dispensing system will keep kegs of beer cool and will help to deliver a smoother pour. The kegs will be in the kitchen and lines under the flooring will run all the way to the bar, which is in the front of the structure. A large patio will allow guest to eat outside.

Next to the new restaurant, construction has started on a new Carmike Movie Theater. No date has been released on when the new theater will open, but reports indicate the movie screens will be 82-feet wide by 30-feet high.
