The new Judicial Center that is being built in downtown Murfreesboro will likely be open and ready for service by July of 2018.

After the completion of the new court building, the old court building could be used by the Rutherford County Building Codes and Planning Departments. Reports indicate it may also be used to house the Election Commission.

Once all the moves are complete, the question of what to do with the old bank building to the left of the courts remains. That building is currently used by the District Attorney's office. The second question that is looming involves the old Goldstein's building, which is used today by Building Codes, the Planning Department and the Election Commission.

Rutherford County's Technology Director Brian Robertson and chairman of Main Street Murfreesboro, indicated the old Murfreesboro Bank and Trust facility on the northwest side of the square and the former Goldstein's building on the southeast side, may both fall with a wrecking ball . . .

If the buildings are torn down in the future, they could be used as a park like greenspace or the small plots of land could possibly be sold. Again, nothing has been officially decided at this point.
