Wine NOW Available In Tennessee Grocery Stores

As of 8:00 o'clock Friday morning, July 1, 2016, it became legal to purchase wine in Tennessee grocery stores. State Senator Bill Ketron, who sponsored the law, purchased the first bottle at Publix on Franklin Road here in Murfreesboro.

The Murfreesboro Republican said it took several years to create legislation that would benefit consumers as well as all sizes of businesses . . .

Senator Ketron explained that more than 80 communities throughout the Volunteer State participated in approval of this legislation, and 65 to 70 per cent of those residents voted for approval.

Ketron said that the main concern was centered around fairness to the small family business as well as the corporate giants that would become involved in selling wine.

He coined a phrase describing the convenience stores that have emerged now that this new law is in effect . . .
