Murfreesboro Police are investigating a shooting, which left a 26-year old Wingate Street woman wounded. Officer Randall Gaines reported hearing gunshots in the area of Rutherford Boulevard and Bradyville Pike around four o'clock Sunday morning. Dispatch a short time afterward received a call from Chasity Smith, saying she'd been shot and also from her husband, who was taking her to the emergency room. Dispatch asked the victim's husband to stop and wait on authorities, who met up with them at New Salem Highway and I-24 on the westbound ramp. Officers Gaines and Kyle Frazier observed Smith had been shot in the upper body and there were several gunshots in the driver's side door. Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services transported the woman to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville and detectives have take over the investigation.
