Woman charged in fatal Smyrna, TN Accident due in court soon

22 Year old Jamitria Patton was arraigned in a Rutherford County Circuit Court room on Monday (1/23/17). The Smyrna woman is charged with "Vehicular Homicide by Reckless Endangerment."

In 2015 Patton was traveling on Sam Ridley Parkway when she allegedly struck a vehicle that was pulled over and having car problems.

Patton struck a car owned by 29-year-old Emily Wilkerson of Mt. Juliet. Authorities confirmed that Wilkerson died at the scene.

A driver who pulled over to help the stranded motorist was also injured in the accident. 23-Year-old Brandon Hight was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center and had to undergo surgery.

Ms. Patton will also face one count of reckless endangerment and one count of reckless aggravated assault when she appears in court to file a plea on February 23, 2017. Patton is currently free on bond.
