A former Wenlon Drive woman faces charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, accused of using cocaine while pregnant. Murfreesboro Police Detective Tommy Roberts charged 26-year old Alisha Rodriguez, who also goes by the name Alisha Perez, this week. U-S Marshals picked her up in Mexico and extradited her back to Rutherford County. In May of last year, Rodriguez gave birth to a baby at Middle Tennessee Medical Center with several medical issues. She tested positive for cocaine along with amphetamines and marijuana. Detective Roberts and Rachel Cook with the Department of Children's Services interviewed Rodriguez shortly after the child was born. That investigation led police to believe she'd been using drugs throughout her pregnancy. Rodriguez left the child at the hospital and D-C-S put the child in state's custody. The Rutherford County Grand Jury this month indicted the woman on the charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Rodriguez will be in Rutherford County General Sessions Court Friday, May 10th to answer to those charges.
