Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity is partnering with Ann Hoke & Associates Keller Williams for "PANEL BUILD". The goal is for the community to join together at 9:00 o'clock Saturday morning, September 17th, and assemble all exterior and interior walls for this Habitat House in five-hours.

The event takes place in the parking lot of Ann Hoke & Associates' office in the StoneGate Corporate Center at 1639 Medical Center Parkway in Murfreesboro. About 100 volunteers are needed to build the walls and construct a temporary house in the parking lot! The event will end at 2:30 that afternoon with a group photo of the volunteers prior to loading the walls onto trailers for transporting to the actual home site.

Learn About Habitat at "PANEL BUILD"

Volunteers and the general public will work hand-in-hand with Habitat Future Homeowners, learn about the need for affordable housing in Rutherford County, and sign the walls with words of encouragement, wisdom and prayers.

The home is being constructed for Future Habitat Homeowner Shelley, who will be working at the site all day. The wall panels will than be transported to the residential home site on Quiet Lane in La Vergne.

Shelley along with other future homeowners will be working to compete the required 400 hours of "sweat equity". Each Habitat homeowner must also complete a 30-week financial and homeowner education program and get their finances in order so they can qualify for the 0 per cent interest mortgage to buy their Habitat home.

This unique process encourages homeowners to be prepared to maintain their home, manage their money, and be invested in the program and the neighborhood.

Applications for the next Habitat Homeowner Program will be accepted February 1 - March 31, 2017.

"PANEL BUILD" Volunteers Needed

Volunteers, age 16 and over, are needed for this Panel Build event; tools, skills and construction experience are not required. Volunteers will be assembling walls the old fashioned way - using hammers and nails. Volunteers will work in 50 minute shifts beginning at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 pm for the load out. A lunch break is set for 12 noon with box lunches for the volunteers provided by Panera Bread Company. There will be food, crafts and games all ages.

The event is free to volunteers and the general public. Food and drinks have been donated, including Papa Murphy's Pizza. Donations to the Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity are welcome, and needed to complete the construction of this house, which is the Schneider Electric Build at Quiet Lane in La Vergne. The house construction will be from September 23 - December 1, and volunteers age 16 and over will be needed for those Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Again, no experience or skills are needed.
