Seven high school seniors each received $1,000 scholarships from the Rutherford County Sheriff's School Resource Officers.

To qualify, 24 seniors submitted a 500-word essay on, "Ways I Would Improve School Safety," said SRO Jason Urban. A winner was chosen from each school where students wrote the essay. The scholarships are funded from proceeds from the SRO LoneStar Rodeo and individual donations from the SROs.
